The Sophos partner portal is a web-based platform through which Sophos authorised partners manage product licences, register deals, access technical documentation and raise support escalations on behalf of their clients. It is not a customer-facing portal and is not accessible to end users directly.
When you purchase Sophos products through Intcom Systems, we manage the partner portal on your behalf. This means we handle licence provisioning, track your subscription expiry dates, process renewals and access Sophos's technical resources when needed for your support queries. You get the benefit of portal access without needing to manage it yourself.
Clients who have purchased Sophos directly from Sophos's website or through an unmanaged channel sometimes find that they have no local partner to contact for support or renewals. If that is your situation, Intcom Systems can take over management of your existing Sophos licences and provide the local support and renewal management you currently lack. Contact us to discuss a licence transfer.
Sophos provides global technical support through its own support channels, but for most businesses in India the more practical approach is to work through a local Sophos partner who can provide first-line support directly.
How support works through Intcom Systems
When you purchase Sophos products through Intcom Systems, your first point of contact for any support query is our team in Mumbai, not Sophos's global helpdesk. We handle day-to-day queries including firewall policy changes, connectivity troubleshooting, endpoint alerts, Sophos Central configuration and licence management. For issues that require Sophos engineering involvement, such as firmware bugs or complex product defects, we escalate through our partner portal on your behalf and manage the case until it is resolved.
What our Sophos support covers
Our support for Sophos products includes initial deployment and configuration, policy reviews and updates, VPN setup and troubleshooting, Sophos Central management, user onboarding and offboarding, firmware update guidance, incident response for security alerts and licence renewal management. We support Sophos Firewall, Intercept X, Sophos Email and Sophos Central across all clients we manage in Mumbai and across India.
Sophos support for existing deployments
If you have Sophos products already deployed but no local partner providing support, Intcom Systems can step in as your Sophos support partner. We will review your current configuration, identify any gaps in your setup and provide ongoing support going forward. Contact us with details of your current Sophos deployment and we will advise on how to get you properly supported.
Indian businesses across banking, financial services, healthcare and listed companies are subject to a growing number of cybersecurity regulations and guidelines. Sophos products are well positioned to help organisations meet several of these requirements.
CERT-In Incident reporting requirements
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued mandatory cybersecurity directions in 2022 requiring organisations to report cybersecurity incidents within six hours of detection and to maintain logs for 180 days. Sophos Central retains detailed firewall and endpoint logs and provides real-time alerts when security events are detected. Sophos MDR can assist with incident detection and the initial triage required to assess whether an event meets CERT-In reporting thresholds.
RBI cybersecurity framework
The Reserve Bank of India's cybersecurity framework for banks and NBFCs requires institutions to implement controls across network security, endpoint protection, data loss prevention and incident response. Sophos Firewall, Intercept X and Sophos Central together address several of the framework's core technical control requirements including network segmentation, intrusion detection, malware prevention and centralised security monitoring.
SEBI Cybersecurity and cyber resilience framework
SEBI's cybersecurity framework for registered intermediaries requires controls including network security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management and security monitoring. Sophos products address these requirements through next-generation firewall controls, deep learning endpoint protection, centralised policy management and Sophos MDR for ongoing monitoring. Intcom Systems can assist SEBI-regulated businesses in Mumbai in mapping their current Sophos deployment against SEBI's control requirements.
IT Act 2000 and data protection
India's IT Act 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 place obligations on organisations to implement reasonable security practices to protect personal data. Deploying a properly configured next-generation firewall, endpoint protection and email security reduces the risk of a data breach and demonstrates that the organisation has taken reasonable steps to protect the data it holds. Intcom Systems can advise on a Sophos deployment that is appropriate for your data protection obligations.
Not all Sophos resellers offer the same level of service. If you are evaluating partners, here are the things worth checking before you commit.
Certified partner status
Sophos has several partner tiers based on technical expertise and sales volume. A certified Sophos partner has met Sophos's requirements for product knowledge and support capability. You can verify a partner's status through Sophos's official partner directory at sophos.com. Intcom Systems holds certified Sophos partner status and can be found in Sophos's official partner listing.
Pre-sales sizing and recommendation
A good Sophos partner will not simply ask how many users you have and hand you a product. They will ask about your internet bandwidth, the types of traffic your business generates, whether you need VPN for remote workers, what you are currently running and what problems you are trying to solve. The right XGS model and subscription bundle depends on all of these factors. If a reseller skips this conversation, that is a signal worth noting.
Deployment and configuration support
Sophos Firewall is not a plug-and-play device. Proper deployment involves configuring firewall rules, setting up IPS policies, enabling web filtering categories appropriate for your business, configuring VPN and integrating with Sophos Central. A reseller who only supplies the hardware and licence without offering deployment support leaves you to handle a complex configuration on your own. Intcom Systems includes deployment and initial configuration as part of the engagement.
Ongoing support after deployment
Security products need ongoing attention: firmware updates, policy reviews, new user onboarding and incident response. A reseller with a local support team in Mumbai means you have someone to call when something needs attention, rather than raising a ticket with a global helpdesk and waiting. Ask any partner how they handle post-deployment support before signing.
Licence renewal mangement
Sophos licences expire on a fixed date. If a renewal is missed, your firewall and endpoint protection lapses immediately. A reliable Sophos partner tracks your licence expiry dates and contacts you well in advance of renewal so there is no gap in coverage. Intcom Systems manages renewal tracking for all clients and notifies you before any licence approaches expiry.
Sophos Firewall is one of the most widely deployed next-generation firewalls in the SME and mid-market segment in India. The current XGS hardware series uses a purpose-built architecture that handles encrypted traffic inspection and threat detection without the performance degradation that affects older UTM appliances.
Choosing the right Sophos XGS model
The right appliance depends on your number of users, internet bandwidth and which security features you need running simultaneously. As a guide: XGS 87 to 107 suits offices up to 25 users, XGS 116 to 136 for up to 75 users and XGS 216 upwards for larger environments. Intcom Systems will assess your network properly before recommending a model rather than sizing on user count alone.
Sophos Synchronised Security
One of Sophos Firewall's strongest features is its ability to communicate in real time with Sophos Intercept X on endpoints. If an endpoint detects a threat, it signals the firewall automatically, which isolates that device from the rest of the network. This prevents threats from spreading laterally, which is how most ransomware attacks cause widespread damage. This works only when both firewall and endpoint are Sophos products, managed through Sophos Central.
Sophos Intercept X is the endpoint protection product that sits on your laptops, desktops and servers. It uses deep learning rather than traditional signature-based detection, which means it can catch new and previously unseen threats. CryptoGuard, Intercept X's anti-ransomware feature, detects and reverses unauthorised file encryption in real time, which is the main mechanism ransomware uses to cause damage.
Intercept X vs Intercept X Advanced vs Advanced with MDR
Intercept X is the base protection tier. Intercept X Advanced adds XDR (extended detection and response) for deeper visibility and investigation. Advanced with MDR adds Sophos's 24/7 managed security team who monitor your environment and respond to threats on your behalf. For most Mumbai businesses without a dedicated security team, Advanced or Advanced with MDR is the practical choice.
Yes. Intcom Systems is a certified Sophos partner in Mumbai and an authorised Sophos reseller across India. All Sophos products we supply are genuine, properly licensed and backed by Sophos official support. As a certified partner, we can sell, deploy and support the full Sophos product range including Sophos Firewall, Intercept X and Sophos Central.
The Sophos partner portal is a web-based platform used by Sophos resellers and partners to manage product licences, register deals, access technical resources and raise support tickets on behalf of clients. It is not a customer-facing portal. If you are a business looking to buy or manage Sophos licences, you would do this through your Sophos partner, which in this case is Intcom Systems. We handle the portal side on your behalf.
If you have purchased Sophos products through Intcom Systems, your first point of contact for support is us, not Sophos directly. We provide first-line support for all Sophos products we supply in Mumbai and across India. For critical incidents that require Sophos engineering involvement, we escalate through our partner portal on your behalf. Contact us at sales@intcomsystems.com or on 9987034227.
Sophos Firewall is a next-generation firewall (NGFW) that protects business networks from external threats. It combines traditional firewall rules with advanced features including deep packet inspection, intrusion prevention (IPS), application control, web filtering, VPN and Sophos Synchronized Security. It is available as a physical hardware appliance (the XGS series) and as a virtual firewall for cloud and virtualised environments.
The Sophos XGS series is Sophos’s current range of next-generation firewall hardware appliances. XGS models range from the XGS 87 (suited to small offices) up to the XGS 7500 and 8500 (for large enterprises and data centres). The XGS series features a dedicated Xstream Architecture with hardware acceleration for TLS inspection and threat intelligence, which improves throughput without compromising security. Intcom Systems can advise on the right XGS model for your office size and traffic volume.
Sophos XG was the previous generation of Sophos firewall hardware. The XGS series replaced it and introduced hardware-accelerated TLS inspection, improved threat intelligence processing and updated port configurations. Sophos has ended mainstream support for older XG hardware. If you are running XG appliances, Intcom Systems can advise on the migration path to XGS and whether a hardware refresh makes sense for your environment.
A traditional UTM (Unified Threat Management) appliance combines multiple security functions (firewall, IPS, web filter, VPN) in a single device but processes them sequentially, which can reduce performance. Sophos Firewall is a next-generation firewall that uses parallel processing, deep packet inspection and a purpose-built architecture to handle encrypted traffic and modern threats without the performance trade-off. Sophos Firewall also supports Synchronized Security, which UTMs typically do not.
Sophos Synchronized Security is a feature that allows Sophos Firewall and Sophos Endpoint (Intercept X) to communicate directly with each other in real time. When Intercept X detects a threat on an endpoint, it automatically notifies the firewall, which can isolate that device from the network to prevent lateral movement. This is a significant advantage over security products from different vendors that cannot share threat intelligence with each other.
Sophos Firewall pricing in India depends on the XGS appliance model selected and the subscription bundle (base licence, protection bundle or enhanced plus bundle). Pricing is also affected by subscription term (1, 2 or 3 years). Contact Intcom Systems for a quote based on your office size, number of users and required feature set. We will recommend the right model and provide pricing in INR.
Yes. Sophos Firewall supports multiple VPN types including IPsec VPN, SSL VPN, SD-WAN and Sophos ZTNA (Zero Trust Network Access). For remote workers, Sophos SSL VPN and Sophos Connect client are the most common configurations. For branch office connectivity, IPsec or SD-WAN are typically used. Intcom Systems can advise on the right VPN configuration for your team’s remote access needs.
Yes. Sophos Firewall can be managed through Sophos Central, which is Sophos’s cloud-based management console. Central allows you to manage firewall policies, monitor traffic and receive alerts from a single browser-based dashboard. This is particularly useful for businesses with multiple sites or for IT teams that manage security remotely. All XGS appliances support Sophos Central management.
Sophos Intercept X is Sophos’s advanced endpoint protection product. It uses deep learning (a form of machine learning) to detect malware and threats that traditional signature-based antivirus would miss. Key features include anti-ransomware protection (CryptoGuard), exploit prevention, root cause analysis and integration with Sophos Central for centralised management. It is available for Windows, Mac and server environments.
Sophos Intercept X is the base endpoint protection product with deep learning threat detection, anti-ransomware and exploit prevention. Intercept X Advanced adds extended detection and response (XDR) capabilities, which give IT teams deeper visibility into endpoint activity for investigation and threat hunting. Intercept X Advanced with MDR adds 24/7 monitoring and response by Sophos security analysts on top of that. For most SMEs, Intercept X Advanced is the right choice.
Sophos MDR (Managed Detection and Response) is a fully managed security service where Sophos’s team of security experts monitor your environment around the clock, hunt for threats and respond to incidents on your behalf. It is suited to businesses that do not have a dedicated in-house security operations team. MDR is available as a standalone service or as an add-on to Intercept X Advanced.
Sophos Intercept X pricing in India is calculated per endpoint per year and varies by tier (Intercept X, Intercept X Advanced or Advanced with MDR) and the number of endpoints. Volume pricing applies for larger deployments. Contact Intcom Systems for a quote in INR based on your endpoint count and required protection level.
Yes. Sophos Intercept X supports Windows, macOS and Linux endpoints. The level of feature parity varies slightly across operating systems, with Windows having the broadest feature set. For Mac-heavy environments (common in creative and design teams), Sophos provides solid protection including malware detection, web filtering and device control. Intcom Systems can advise on deployment across mixed OS environments.
Sophos Email Security is a cloud-based email protection service that sits in front of your email platform (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or on-premise Exchange) and filters inbound and outbound email. It detects and blocks phishing, spam, malware attachments, ransomware and business email compromise (BEC) attacks. It integrates with Microsoft 365 and can be managed through Sophos Central alongside your firewall and endpoint products.
Yes. Sophos Email Security integrates directly with Microsoft 365 and can be set up to process all inbound and outbound mail. It adds an additional layer of protection on top of Microsoft’s built-in Defender for Office 365, catching threats that Microsoft’s filters may miss. Setup involves pointing your domain’s MX records to Sophos and configuring connector rules in the Microsoft 365 admin centre. Intcom Systems can handle this configuration as part of the deployment.
Sophos Central is Sophos’s cloud-based management platform. It provides a single dashboard to manage all Sophos products including Firewall, Intercept X, Email Security, Wireless and ZTNA. From Central, you can set policies, monitor alerts, run reports and manage licences across your entire Sophos deployment. It is included with all Sophos product subscriptions and does not require a separate licence.
Sophos Central is included as part of any active Sophos product subscription. You do not pay separately for the management console. However, you do need at least one active Sophos product licence to access and use Central. For businesses evaluating Sophos, a trial licence can be arranged through Intcom Systems.
